ALL ARE WELCOME (PERMANENT COMMUNITY MEMBERS, COLLEGE STUDENTS AND GUESTS)
One does not have to be a believer to know that no other Person has had a greater impact upon the course of the world than Jesus Christ. For Christians, this means not only bringing about our salvation, but bringing God's unconditional love into the world in the most concrete way possible. We can see this through the impact Christianity has had on western culture.
For those who dismiss Christianity or who do not believe in Christianity, oftentimes you will discover there is an intense skepticism of any organizational structure, particularly religion. One of the most commonly cited reasons for sitting with this unbelief or at least being comfortable with it is because there is an idea that great violence has been done to the world in the name of religion or even in the Name of Christ. So, is it true--hasn't religion been the source of violence? Sadly, yes.
The story is not over there. One must be intellectually honest enough to see the good brought about by the advent of Christianity and the changes that would never have taken place without Christianity, and these are largely eclipsed by the smaller degree of evil (although any degree of evil done in the name of religion is too much). But let's see what good has been accomplished by this Person of Jesus, the most powerful figure the world has ever known, and who for Christians is the only Person with two natures: Human & Divine!
What kinds of things get ignored? Before the advent of Christianity there was no concept of inherent human dignity (the idea that every human being is of inestimable worth). Christianity changed the basic way of living in the ancient world easily described by a "survival of the fittest" approach to life, to an approach that introduced concepts of compassion for the weak, the sick, the poor and simultaneously bringing about the idea of universal education (also the Church developed what today we enjoy as the Modern University System). All of these things, and much more good was made possible because of Christ and his college of apostles who set out into a hostile world to bring this Good News (a.k.a the Gospel). We believe this is a Person worth getting to know, because we cannot love who we do not know.
Come and learn about the Personality of Christ that changed the world through a study of the four Canonical Gospels!
